A Little History...

Just some facts on key dates in the history of "Troop 66" Scouting!

1922-1923

Boy Scout Troop 66 chartered by the Hazel Park Community in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

1925-1931

Boy Scout Troop 66 chartered by Central Park MC (Methodist Church?). In this era, unit numbers seem to have been reused when possible.

1931-1940

Boy Scout Troop 66 chartered by St. Bernard's Catholic Church. The Usher's Club was the original chartering organization.

1940-Early 1950s

The Usher's Club was sometimes late in payments, so there are occasional gaps in the years of chartering coverage. Sometimes it was a month or two, other times a whole year might go by Considering that World War II was going on, this is somewhat understandable.

1956

A citizen's group chartered Troop 66 for a year but failed to recharter, and the group ceased to exist. This is according to notes from a unit commissioner for the "Capitol District" who noted that Troop 66 was inactive when he joined the council.

June 1957

This is the start of the charter of Boy Scout Troop 66, and it has been continuously chartered ever since! This means that Troop 9066 is a "veteran" unit with over 61 years.

February 2019

This is the first month in which Scouts BSA troop for girls, Troop 7066, was chartered. Anyone who joins as a scout or a leader until the end of this calendar year is entitled to wear the Founder bar under their unit number.

    Leaders on Patrol

    We have Leaders!

The girls had their first meeting on February 4th, and came up with the following leaders:

    • Senior Patrol Leader: ZoĆ«
    • Assistant Senior Patrol Leader: Kathryn
    • Scribe: Maizie
    • Quartermaster: Evelyn
Next week they will have a quick PLC (Patrol Leaders' Council) to sort out the calendar for a good chunk of the next twelve months.

    The Patrol has a Patch!

The girls also decided on a patrol patch from Class B, but we'll keep the name a secret for now:

Can you guess what the patrol name and yell might be?

    Recruitment Meeting Tonight!

    Come Join Troop 66!

Northern Star Council Scouts BSA uniform shirt for Troop 66
Girls can join a Scouts BSA troop we’re starting, and enjoy the same program — up to and including Eagle Scout rank — that boys alone have experienced until now. Visit us TONIGHT and see what it is all about, from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM at St. Bernard’s Parish Center, southwest corner of Rice Street and Rose Avenue (enter parking lot from Rose), a block south of Maryland Avenue, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. We are part of the Northern Star Council.

This is an opportunity to become a Founder of a Scouts BSA troop, just for girls. Boys are also welcome to show-up with their parents, and we can register them for the Scouts BSA troop for boys that already exists. But we are especially looking for girls who want to experience all the things that only Boy Scouts got to do until now. Join us, and be a part of it! It is the start of a great new day!
